  1. I saw the stream too, the show was horrible.
Going to rewatch last year show while crying at how shitty this year concert was.

  2. really? I thought it was fine, though obviously it was missing some things from last year. Already seeing the 2ch antis go crazy, so i can’t wait until a certain sensationalist English website posts about how bad “Japan” thinks the concert was this year >_<

  3. I saw the stream too and disappointed. i read somewhere that sega didnt organize this event but 5bp hence the glass projector and the high quality 3dmodels isnt used.

  4. The visuals were not the same quality but the “acting” and more importantly the set list were much better IMO I enjoyed it very much!

  5. I agree with ren. The quality was like the Project Diva game, and I really prefer the glass projector from the last show… I mean, in that one they look more real…
At least Len sings more than one song… But I really would enjoy a lot more if he sing Servant of Evil in his HQ 3D model… In this one, his hair don’t move!!!

    Hated the show…

  7. I like the setlist of this year’s concert. I agree the use of a non-transparent screen put a damper on this show compared to last (using a transparent screen would have made the show better). The 3D model looked fine though.

I would see why some fans would be disappointed compared to last years concert. I would put this show between Miku’s birthday concert in ’09 and last years show. Good, but not great…a step backwards not forwards.

What was the deal with the 30 minute intermission? Supposedly that made people angry (what is this? and opera? lol).

  8. Well last year it was handled by SEGA and it was FANTASTIC,
this year it was handled by 5bp, and it was CRAPTASTIC instead…
although it was true that they were lot movement, effect, dances and expression in this year concert…however it does not give me the same refreshing feeling as last year, so I have to say this year concert…
    SEMI-FAIL, sadly>x<

  9. People should be more appreciative.. I still thought it was good. I mean people must have worked really hard on it. >_>

  10. From what I’ve seen it is sadly disappointing compared to last years

My main complaint would be the the display on a monitor and camera work for the concert. They don’t mix well! Nice to see a clear image this time around but not when its at an angle.

  11. The main complain with the concert this time around is the camera angle for me, with them loving to show things from the side to emphasize on how “flat” it is…

I know I’ll get stabbed to death by negi for saying this, but I actually liked the color for a flat monitor more than the glass screen’s. It’s much more colorful compared to last year’s.

  12. Watched it live too, hated it so much…30 minutes of someone random singing….then only 7 minutes of showing Luka with blob for hair..and 30 minutes of endless commercial….

  13. I was reading a blog of someone who attended the concert and found out that the 30 minute or so intermission was due to some technical difficulties. Supposedly, this person confirmed it by checking 5pb’s twitter (or some twitter account under 5pb). Yea, sucks either way.

I think the 3D models used were good, higher-polygon count and res of the PJD models and the choreography work was really good (one thing I didn’t like from last years show was the recycling of dance moves from PJD1 for those songs. I understand time and money constraint, but still…)

I do wonder if all the complaints that have been quoted from SanCom were people who watched the broadcast instead of being there. When the camera is actually facing the screen straight, things look good. All the angled shots kill it.

  14. I think the problem with this year’s models is that they look like the ones used in the PSP variant of the game. Albeit, with a higher polygon count, more detailed(they iris in particular) and that’s about it. Whereas last year’s uses the Arcade models which are sculpted differently.

    Luka’s face is better though.

  15. We consumer pay for the concert, and we expect at least they deliver a performance in par with last year,
when its about something that you love, is it okay just to remain it at satisfactory level?

  16. well the one that handling this is actually and mainly 5bp…so can I hire Duke Togo to kill the one that behind this? JK JK^v^, but still
    >x<…

  17. True, the clear screen had some issues, but they definitely could have created a bit more of an immersive environment for the whole thing. The big-ass screen was nice, but it was REALLY easy to tell where the digital environment ended vs where reality was. The lines were a bit more blurred last year…

I think my biggest gripe, though, had to be the fact that some of the motion just didn’t feel as “real.” In last year’s concert (particularly in the Kagamine performance), there were a lot of subtle movements with the characters which added a bit of realism that just seemed absent this year. …They felt too static, and that was definitely disappointing.

The setlist was nice, at least, though.

  18. Actually there are BuzzG (he’s on the beginning, when Aizawa Mai singing Symphony & Kakurenbo), 164, 40mP, DECO*27, Doriko, and OSTER Project. But weirdly enough, they didn’t appear (or my eyes just fail to spot them).

Some producers are also coming as spectators (Wowaka, Fullkawa, Machigerita, and Owata)… By spectators they’re just there watching ^_^

  19. I thought the opposite with the animation – then again, it’s hard to judge when watching some low frame-rate video recaps. Some of the animation where Miku waving to the crowd, happily jumping or at the end where she supposedly cries around made her feel a little more “live.”

I agree about the a better way to utilize the screen. When watching the broadcast, the camera work makes itlook bad. I do wonder why the screen had this HUGE shroud behind it (is that where the projector and computer equipment were? Was there a dancer back there and the whole show was live mo-capped?)

I wonder if there was technical difficulties if the crew announced it to the audience…usually that’s the case with any live show).

  20. I attended the first concert i have no issue viewing miku in the glass projector and we were at the side. the glass projector and the 3dmodels are owned by sega and sega didnt participate in the event

  21. Good to know…the youtube comment seemed like a good reason for the switch. 5pb could have used something similar to what SEGA did last year (maybe the cost was too much since they are a smaller company). And, of course 5pb would have to redo all the animation and 3d-models since SEGA wasn’t participating…maybe most of the money went to that (I’m probably one of the few people who actually like the models this year).

  22. I’m looking forward to it for a few month and all I can see is a piece of trash.like a psp big screen.if it gonna be like this I prefer watch MMD or diva’s game at my place are the way better. What ever your guy say it have something improve from last year but it can’t compare to a worse thing we get at all. absolutely fail.Miku can’t published all around the world if the last year concert is this concert instead. With this it’s show me that miku born to be a fanmade idol not for an officially company. We rise her with our love not for money

  23. I agree with you on the models and animation. In my opinion, they did improve a lot from SEGAS platic feeling models. Yes, SEGA models did have a HQ feel to them but it stopped being great once you noticed the movements of these models felt static and repetitive (with that horrible lipsinc). In an animation, a 3D model has to have more movement than normal to feel natural to the eye. 5pb models had more body motion than just the clothes or the hair like SEGA, so the Vocaloid felt more alive in that sense.

Also, people don’t understand how much time it takes to create these animations from scratch…and depending on the studio, you sometimes have to sacrifice the quality for the render time of these models/animation. I’m sure it would have taken twice the time if they had been rendered in HQ. SEGA had no excuse last year since they practically had most of the models done from PJD…but then again, they randomly did their concert in a short amount of time.

I did wished that 3d rigging on some of the models were a lot better but that is me being picky. I think what really killed it online was the horrible camera angles. The tracklist was a lot better! In the end, I liked both concerts…

  24. hmm. from what i can see from the streaming. the spirit of the concert isn’t real good. the virtual diva is not really standing out and the band seems like unseen. previous concert real have the spirit and everyone is really sticking out.
true enough that expression and movement is better. but still i’m expecting a real 3G with glass that we cannot get everywhere else then the miku sankyuu.

  25. Just hoping when there’s a concert like this, it’ll be MUCH MUCH BETTER than this! (Even though actually I’m still looking forward to see if it’s going to be released in BluRay, as I’m not able to watch the concert due to the school hours. damn)

As I’ve seen the photos and (luckily) found the video, indeed, I disappointed with the screen, THE MAIN FACTOR FROM THE CONCERT. If only like last year: hologram screen, HQ models, but then combine with this year’s choreography and the costume, I think it’ll be something EPIC… I think.

Man, Please bring back the awesomeness of 2010’s “39’s giving day” concert! PLEASE!! DD’:

  26. Well, the images and the quality of much of the nico stream seemed better overall, but I guess what I’m talking about is little things; Like, for instance, the hair and clothing of the characters weren’t treated the same at all. If you can get your hands on last year’s Nico rip, you can probably make the comparison.

AS for the shroud… That’s… I don’t even know. If it was hollow, I can only imagine that staff and equipment might have been there, but otherwise… Maybe they needed to cool
I can highly doubt that there was live motion capture, though. If you watch, there’s a few points where the characters are completely still.

The work they put into adding cute little expressions or behaviors was nice, but I still think the static treatment of parts of the models killed much of what realistic elements were added with the cuteness.

  27. i watched a livestream rip, it was a great concert – you haters are all on crack. also, a correction for:

    37.) 「カラフル×メロディ / Colorful x Melody」 – ちーむMOER feat. Hatsune Miku

rin was in it too, like she’s supposed to be. i got all worried when i read that she wasn’t gonna be a part of it ;)

  28. I do have the Blu-Ray of last year’s concert…so I have been watching both. The small details like the hair and clothes were not as pronounced this year…I’ll agree on that (the hair of the twins this year were extremely static). I think the added facial expressions and crowd interactions negated that aspect of the “lower-quality” models – it made it more like a live show than watching something pre-recorded.

The shroud is bizarre. I doubt too it was live mo-capped, but that would have been really cool.

Since there’s a good amount of people who wanted the transparent screen and PJA models…maybe 5pb, for the upcoming Sapporo show, will use that and combine it with what they did for this show. That’s the best of both worlds – high-quality with added “realiism.”

  29. Pingback: Remember MikuPa?
  30. the problem with the lack of wide transparent screen, the characters don’t look like they’re there on stage but somewhere else. Its like watching a movie at the cinema but on a very small screen. The characters look cramped for space

  31. Ok, so I have a hate/love relationship with this years concert. Sure the black backdrop that was a HUGE BOX in the middle of the stage was a let down compared to last years transparent glass screen and the models that were used last year were a lot better looking, but this years had its ups too. For one, the set list made my day. I definitely wasn’t expecting Levan Polka or Rolling Girl. The fact that they performed Yellow made my day. As for the screen, the added animations made up for it in my opinion. The added outfit changes, wings, smoke and glitter was a nice touch that may not have been quite as visible on a clear screen (meaning the smoke and glitter, mainly. Did you guys see Miku wipe that tear away in the last song??). Also, we didn’t have that pesky glare from the projector behind the glass like we did last year. So, compared to last year, I think the concert earned a solid 8/10.
Try not to completely bash this years concert, guys. It was set up by a totally different producer.

  32. I agree. The FX in at the beginning and end of Rin’s “Iroha Uta” were great. I think the other performances could have use some on-screen FX too. I also enjoyed the fading effect of the vocaloid when he/she leaves the stage or returns from being offstage (e.g. Miku spinning away before Luka’s medley, Rin walking on then offstage during Len’s “Aku no Meshitsukai,” Len rushing onstage to join Rin for “Rin Rin Signal”). On a negative note: some of those camera angles were unnecessary and Luka and Len needed more longer solos.

  33. +1 to twilightxxxchild and Sean.

IMO, I enjoyed the show… So long as I see Miku and the rest playing my favorite songs, it’s all good. :)

  34. There is no doubt about it, last year’s show was superior by leaps and bounds. The band was better in my opinion as well although this band was okay. But the Sega people had a terrific set up and it felt more live than this one did. If they do it again Sega should have the exclusive contract as they do a better job…same band too.

If they bring it to America I’ll go anywhere within a thousand miles of L.A. so long as Sega is doing it.

  35. if I wanna watch miku on screen I can watch it on my laptop and if I wanna watch miku on concert I want It outside a screen.

some of your guy said that this concert has something better like a… bra bra bra… I wanna ask your something.Do you prefer 3rd concert look like this one? Don’t say something that convert to the other one just becuz u wanna look so cool to be separate from an angry crazy miku fan. idiot!
